Report: EU to raise clean energy goals to stop buying Russian fuel

MOSCOW, May 11 (PRIME) -- The European Commission will offer more ambitious goals for renewable energy in the framework of a 195 billion euro plan to stop dependence on Russian fossil fuel by 2027, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday citing sources.

The authority plans to raise the clean energy share for 2030 to 45% from 40% at a meeting devoted to the program slated for May 18, the sources said.

The measures will also include short-term investment in oil infrastructure of the countries fully dependent on Russian oil. The investment was not disclosed.

The E.U. will also invest in security measures in case of Russia's gas supplies suspension.
